Different, unique, and well done !
Saw 1/2 of this interesting movie up in Millerton, NY and ....power failure ... so, rented it on Amazon as the kids were anxious to see the ending. Great documentary ... interesting story; no idea that an exclusive "magic camp" existed.
Magic Camp a must see.
Following the lives of 4 campers made the video more focused and captivating. The film maker really drew out the personalities of the teachers and campers in such a way that the audience was able to empathize with them. It was remarkable to watch the signs of maturity developing in the kids both socially, emotionally, and technically. The professional magicians gave off very positive vibes and were clearly some of the best in their field. My only disappointment was that there was not one student portrayed who had any kind of "normal" life, whatever that is. It would have been better to see at least one student who was well adjusted and someone was not dying, or abandoned, or had physiological challenges, just to balance out the movie. People watching it might think magic camp is only for people with serious problems I liked the photography and the spontaneous humor. Great movie..
A must see !!
stories of the campers are more than just a " how'd did they do it- camp ! "..the desire to achieve in this art form is very special for these young campers....and the dedication of their counselors at this camp
